2. A Picnic At The Beach (future tense)

When?

What, how & why would it occur?


     Both my family and the neighbour's children are planning for a picnic at the beach next Saturday. We will all get ready early in the morning and gather in front of our neighbour's house by my dad's car. Our neighbour's parents will come out to say their farewells to their children before we head out. We will all head out to our destination at around 8:30 in the morning. We will then take a detour to our favourite nasi lemak stall for a quick breakfast. 


     After breakfast, we will continue with our trip. To ensure that there are no unnecessary delays, we will also be listening in on the weather and traffic reports from the radio. Once we reach the beach, my dad will then carry the heavier equipment to our spot and the rest of us can help out with the lighter load. We will follow through by setting everything up. Dad will be in charge of securing our beach umbrella and mom will help put on sunscreen for everyone to prevent sunburn. 


     My neighbours and I plan to have a race to determine who is the better swimmer. Mom has also told us to swim only in the shallow end near the beach so that we wouldn't drift off. We will bring with us the beach ball that my neighbour's younger brother has. Hopefully we can get both my parents in on the fun as well. We plan to build sandcastles under the beach umbrella later that day. I would also bring along my phone to play a few songs from my playlist as we build and listen to great tunes while we build. I just hope that our hard work won’t be all for naught with the presents of my mischievous sister. I would be so frustrated with her if she ever knocks down our work. 


     I predict that we will all start feeling hungry at around a quarter to two. Dad will then pull out the grill as mom takes out the packs of marinated chicken from the cooler box. We will all cook our lunch together: dad will handle the grill, mom will cut up the vegetables, and we will be in charge of the glazing. We would have cans of flavoured soda to wash everything down. We plan to chat amongst ourselves until evening and enjoy the sunset view. 


     We will also clean up our spot right after. We would gather up all our food containers and throw away all the waste we make. After that we will then pack up our things into the car. My dad plans to drop off the neighbour's children first before parking the car onto our driveway. And I know that I will sleep like a log that very night as I always sleep soundly after activities such as this.
